Support to the Peace Process – PROFIS Project – Victims and Witnesses Protection

• PROTECTION OF VICTIMS AND WITNESSES OF THE PROFIS-GIZ PROGRAM IN COLOMBIA (2014-2015):

Between April 2014 and March 2015, the ideaborn Foundation actively participated in the execution of the ideaborn SL contract, financed by the GIZ, for the protection of victims and witnesses in Colombia.

OBJECTIVE: The GIZ, as part of the ProFis project, supported institutions of the Colombian State, especially the judicial agencies, for the effective application of the Justice and Peace Law (Law 975 of 2005), advising on legal issues and international standards necessary for its application.

MAIN RESULTS: The publication of the book “Protection of Victims and Witnesses” and the “Self-Protection Guide on Justice and Peace”. The main recommendation of this work was the creation, via a decree, of a Coordination Committee for Protection Programs that would improve the interaction and coordination of current programs in Colombia.

The ideaborn Foundation participated as a collaborator in the execution of the project in the diagnostic phase to analyze and verify the different programs, protocols, pathways and existing schemes in terms of protection to victims and witnesses in Colombia.
